Panasonic uses Studio33 for live webcast
April 2010 saw technology giant Panasonic approach their annual Home Entertainment Products Launch in a whole new way and Studio33 were chosen to help broadcast the event across the internet.
A live webcast was requested to promote the launch and new product videos to the world as it happened. Studio33 were asked to provide a live webcast of the main event, ensuring that everyone saw the entertainment, heard the speeches from Managing Director, Steve Rust and saw new product information on everything from 3D Plasmas through to the new Blu-ray range.
A microsite was built to house the videos and content about the new products. This was launched one week prior to the live event to start to create excitement. Working closely with Panasonic, Studio33 ensured that the technology required was available and that the microsite was going to work in the exact way that they desired. On the night, once set up was complete, the webcast iFrame was inserted into the microsite and the live webcast, direct from Melbourne commenced. The
webcast lasted for approximately 45 mins, streamed perfectly with crystal quality. Alongside the webcast on the microsite sat a Twitter feed. A #tag had been created to allow people to tweet during the performance with feedback on the event. Not only were people tweeting from the event itself, but also from home watching the webcast. Photos were being uploaded by guests at the event and comments made on each performance.
Once the live webcast had finished, the microsite then housed product videos, filmed by Studio33 earlier that week during the initial stages of the AV Product Launch. Again, this allowed people to view exactly what was happening at the launch, from anywhere in the world. The Studio33 production team were on hand in Melbourne and recorded the entire webcast and made it available on demand on the microsite post-event, along with an event highlights video and vox pops to hear what people thought of the new Panasonic product range.
Panasonic embraced the opportunity to give the event a strong internet presence to further leverage their investment in the event itself, and benefited from allowing transparency of the products and what people thought of the event. Studio33 were also able to provide Panasonic with stats on how many people watched the webcast plus the individual product videos which provided useful data for the marketing team. You can view the microsite here.
